COME HELP BRING REFUGEES TO COLLEGE!
In order to accomplish our dream, R2C functions with two branches and the Executive Board. Every volunteer in the organization will be a member of one of several small Refugee Assistance Teams, where they will work hands-on with one or more refugees to further their educational, vocational, and other opportunities.
Executive Board
Consists of the leaders of the organization. Coordinates intersections between branches and guides organization direction as a whole. Maintains internal operations and efficiency, as well as R2C’s relationship with the University of Michigan, its partnerships with agencies and companies, it's volunteers, and the wellbeing of the refugees. Responsible for all external communications that are not within the roles of the other branches.
Refugee Core Team
A group of individuals that take the initial consultation with each refugee and his or her family. This creates a better starting place, allowing for the transition to the refugee assistance team to create an action plan with the refugee and begin the process of developing their professional skills, applying to colleges, and learning about the higher education/post-employment system in the United States.
Refugee Assistance Teams
Everyone works in pairs with one refugee. Our strict policy as a 2:1 ratio Develops an action plan for each refugee and consults the resources of the organization to develop the refugee's career and educational opportunities.

THE REFUGEES TO COLLEGE PROCESS
All of our volunteers are background checked through the federal government and fill out our nondisclosure agreement. We also ask they fill out a form determining if he or she is a student or professional, what particular skills the volunteer has to teach, and the amount of time to he or she is able to commit.
1) A refugee contacts us or an aid/agency alerts us of a new refugee in need of our services
2) After being processed into our system, we contact that refugee to establish a date and time to have an initial consultation
3) The initial consultation occurs in person through one of our consultants, determining the current situation of the refugee and the main next steps
4) Our refugee core team takes in the initial consultation, meets with the Volunteer Coordination team, and matches two volunteers to the refugees based on the volunteers' skillset or time commitment
5) The volunteer pair then meets with the refugee in person to develop an action plan that is robust
6) Per week, the volunteers do work researching, communicating using our connections as well as their own, and completing the action plan. Eventually, the volunteers give updates to the refugee once per week to determine if any action needs to be taken by the refugee and how the process is going. This continues until the refugee completes the goal.
